Investment round-up, with a list of studios that got funded in April 4th week, May 1st and 2nd week.

April 4th week:

  1. Focus Entertainment snaps up sim specialist Dovetail Games

  2. SuperDuperSecretCo raises $1m to make a chess battle royale game

  3. Mobile games veterans raise €4m in seed funding for new studio, Cosmic Lounge

  4. Animoca Brands subsidiary Tinytap accrues $8.5m investment

  5. Ex-Far Cry and Battlefield developers have set up Moon Rover Games to work on a new recipe for emergent multiplayer co-op action

  6. NFL partners with Mythical games, is enroute to have a Web3 and blockchain mobile game

  7. Web3 gaming platform Gameta raised $5M from Binance Labs and others.

  8. Virtual reality game studio Vinci Games raised $5.1M.

  9. TreesPlease Games unveiled LongLeaf Valley and $8M funding

  10. SuperAwesome and Yoti announce new partnership

May 1st week

  1. Frantic Games raises $2.4m in pre-seed funding

  2. Supercell has made the seed funding investment into Phantom Gamelab

  3. European games giant Plaion – formerly Koch Media – is merging its various publishing divisions

  4. Mobile gaming studio Cosmic Lounge raised $4.4M in a seed round

  5. Icelandic game developer Vitar Games secured $550K in its first round of funding.

  6. Japanese AR/VR studio CharacterBank raised $2.5M in a Series A

May 2nd week:

  1. Publisher Astragon acquired sports sim studio Independent Arts for an undisclosed sum

  2. Outfit7 invests in educational startup Hopalai

  3. Keywords Studios acquires Hardsuit Labs

  4. WolfEye Studios partners with VC fund Galaxy Interactive to remain independent and create β€œambitious new IP”
