Hey Friends, Greetings from Bangalore 💗

Bullish vs Bearish: in 2022, hypercasual games saw a decline of -22% in downloads, i.e. decrease in 1B yearly downloads, and hybrid-casual games saw an uptick of +13% in downloads.

Is hyper-casual 2.0 called hybrid-casual, in a way yes? Hybrid casual games are an evolution of hyper-casual with a blend of casual games meta.

What is the hybrid-casual game: single gesture game where the core mechanics is off from hypercasual and (+) the game has monetization and retention similar to casual games.

  1. Games like stumble guys, and survivor.io are the best examples. Will you call Crossy Road and Rodeo Stampede hybrid-casual games? I think yes they are hybrid-casual games.

  2. Why meta: Hybrid-games, the game session is higher than (2X) than hyper-casual games, and there's room for more user engagement than hyper-casual with room for meta for monetization and retention.

  3. In 2022, Hybrid-casual had 5.1B downloads with 1.4B rev Vs Hyper-casual games had 12.3B downloads in 2022 (vs 13.7B in 2021)

Top 10 trending meta in the hybrid-casual games:

  1. Character collection

  2. Levels

  3. Social clans

  4. Resource Management

  5. Narrative Stories

  6. Decor

  7. Social Gambling
