From the flood of GDC 2025 recaps, one quote stuck with me — and it perfectly sums up the current game dev cycle:
Hard times create strong games.
Strong games create good times.
Good times create weak games.
Weak games create hard times.
We’re in the part of the cycle where studios are being tested. Teams are being redefined. Ideas/LiveOps are being sharpened.
And out of this pressure, some of the most creative, resilient, and impactful games will emerge.
It’s not just a reset. It’s a forge.
